Smart City Implementation
Fiber internet service is the gold standard of wired residential and commercial internet connections.
The biggest benefit of fiber is that it offers much faster speeds over much longer distances than traditional copper-based technologies such as digital subscriber line (DSL) internet and cable internet. A fiber internet connection easily can be 10 times as fast as a standard cable connection.
Simply put, fiber-optic connections can transfer more data more quickly than other types of connections. This is possible because fiber-optic technology uses light instead of electricity to transmit data at higher frequencies.
Transmitting information over any type of cable or wire means sending signals at different frequencies. The most basic cables offer a limited range, or band, of frequencies, which limits how much information can travel at once. More bandwidth means more information can travel at once, which translates to faster speeds. Connections with lots of bandwidth are called “broadband” connections.
